When managing domain name registrations, you may convert the domain name registration type through Manage Services. There are two registration types: Advanced DNS and Registration.

• Advanced DNS

  You can host your domain names on Network Solutions name servers for free. DNS information is not required at the time of registration and the domain name will resolve to our default Standard Under Construction page. At any time, you can enter and make changes to the following records: A, MX for e-mail and CNAME for domain alias. If you add Web Forwarding to selected domain names, you must choose Advanced DNS.

• Registration

  Domain names of type Registration require you to enter a primary and secondary name server at the time of registration.

If you wish to convert the registration type of multiple domain names of one registration type, you must first lookup the domain names by selecting the Manage Services tab and clicking on View/Update Domains. For instructions on how to do so, please refer to the How do I lookup a domain name? Help page.

1. After you have looked up a domain name, you will be presented with a page displaying the registration and contact information for this domain name. Click the Convert button corresponding to the type of conversion you wish to make.
2. Enter the information required for the new registration type and click the Go! button to continue.
3. Review the information you entered and if everything is correct, click the Submit button to complete the conversion.

If you wish to update Advanced DNS for multiple domain names of type Advanced DNS, you must first lookup the domain names by selecting the Manage Services tab and clicking on View/Update Domains. For instructions on how to do so, please refer to the How do I update domain names in bulk? Help page.

1. After you have looked up the domain names, you will be presented with a results page displaying the domain names. Select the domain names you wish to update and the select Advanced DNS from the Data Type drop down under "Edit Selected Items" at the bottom of the page. Click the Go! button to continue.
2. Enter the information required for the new registration type and click the Go! button to continue.
3. Review the information you entered and if everything is correct, click the Submit button to complete the record update.

Please note the following:

• You will not be able to perform this function for domain names that are expired and in a deactivated status.
• If you convert a domain name of type Advanced DNS to another type, any Web Forwarding and Masking services will become inactive. Web Forwarding can be reactivated if you decide to convert back to Advanced DNS.
